It's support from people like you that make it possible for us to help our participants at EVE Inc. explore choices otherwise unavailable to them. Thank you very much!

If you take charitable giving seriously, you should know about us.

The Marietta Community Foundation is at the heart of charity and philanthropy in Washington County, Ohio and the surrounding communities of the Mid-Ohio Valley.

Philanthropy is a very personal decision. But there are countless options -- both of where to give and how. The professionals at the Marietta Community Foundation are your philanthropic advisors, helping you structure charitable gifts that both meet your own financial situation and address the issues in our community you care about most.

Remember, you don't just give to the Marietta Community Foundation, you give through the Marietta Community Foundation.

Significant opportunities to give often arise when you are making major business, personal, and financial decisions. Our staff can work with you to recommend the best charitable solution. These are just a few of the ways we can assist you in helping your clients:

Year-end tax planning. You just earned a large bonus and want to give a portion back to the community, but have no time to decide on the most deserving charities before the tax year ends. Establishing a Donor Advised Fund through the Marietta Community Foundation earns you an immediate tax deduction, while giving you the ability to stay involved in recommending uses for the gift for years to come.

Sale or disposition of highly appreciated stock. You have stock that has appreciated considerably and want to use a portion of the assets for charitable giving, but the identified charities are too small to accept direct stock gifts. Establish a fund at the Marietta Community Foundation with a gift of stock. You receive a tax deduction on the full market value, while avoiding capital gains tax that would otherwise arise from sale of the stock. You can even be involved in recommending uses for the gift, including giving to the charities and programs that were too small to accept the stock directly.

Sale of a business. You own highly appreciated stock in a company that is about to be acquired. The Marietta Community Foundation can work with you to suggest several ways to structure a charitable gift (including the use of planned giving techniques) to help reduce capital gains tax and maximize impact to the community.

Establishing a private foundation. You're thinking about establishing a private foundation, but are looking for a simpler, more cost-effective alternative. The Marietta Community Foundation can help you analyze the pros and cons of creating a Donor Advised Fund, a supporting organization, or a private foundation.

Retiring in comfort. You're concerned about running out of money during your lifetime, but have always been charitable. Establishing a life income gift (such as a charitable remainder trust) at the Marietta Community Foundation pays income potentially for life. Upon your death, the remainder is placed in your named fund at the Marietta Community Foundation and used to support the chartiable work you cared about most.

Preserving an estate. Estate planning identifies significant taxes going to the IRS, but you want to direct dollars for local benefit. The Marietta Community Foundation can work with you to reduce your taxable estate through a charitable bequest or other planned gift. Your contribution will create a legacy of caring in the community that stays true to your charitable intent literally forever.

Life Insurance. Over the years, many of our donors have purchased life insurance policies for their family’s protection to guarantee resources for their children’s education or to safeguard their business. But as time progresses, their business becomes more prosperous or their estate grows. As a result, they may no longer need the financial protection of existing life insurance policies. Should you find yourself in a similar situation, you may wish to consider using a life insurance policy to create the fund of your choice.

PhilanthroCalc. Generous families can now enjoy the benefits of a variety of planned giving vehicles that simply weren't available to previous generations. Different types of Charitable Remainder Trusts, Charitable Lead Trusts, Life Estate Agreements and many others might be right for you. To explore some of these options and consider different scenarios from the comfort of your home, just click on the logo below:

Of course, PhilanthroCalc is no substitute for sound legal and tax advice. We're happy to talk with you about the various options, but we always encourage our clients to talk with their professional advisors before making a final decision.

Used Automobiles. The Marietta Community Foundation has engaged an outside organization to accept donations of used automobiles on our behalf. The Foundation does NOT value these gifts, but the item donated is acknowledged in a manner appropriate for tax purposes. The donor can consult any of the various car valuation books to value their donation for tax purposes. The outside organization deducts a fee for processing these gifts which can range from 40% to 75% of the vehicle's value -- with the remainder being the net amount received by the Foundation. For more information, visit V-Dac by following the ling below:

While a gift of an automobile most certainly does not maximize the amount available for the charity, it is a reasonable option for someone with an extra car who would like to turn it into a gift to charity.

The Marietta Community Foundation. For good. For ever.

It’s a simple, powerful, and highly personal approach to giving.
