Posted 2007-01-16 by MCF

The Marietta Community Foundation announced today that it is sponsoring ?Current Issues in Estate Planning,? a full-day continuing education seminar for accountants, attorneys, financial planners and insurance agents.  The seminar will occur on Wednesday, May 19th at the Holiday Inn in Parkersburg.  The other co-sponsors of the event are the Mid Ohio Valley Estate Planning Council and the Parkersburg Area Community Foundation.

The seminar will feature a nationally recognized expert on estate planning issues, Charles D. Fox, IV, a partner in the Chicago law firm of Schiff Hardin.  Mr. Fox has published numerous articles on estate planning and lectures annually at numerous seminars across the nation.  He is also a Fellow of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel and regularly listed in the publication, The Best Lawyers in America.

?By some national estimates, $41 trillion will transfer from one generation to the next over the next few decades,? says Bret Bicoy, President & CEO of the Marietta Community Foundation.  ?Quality estate planning can minimize your tax burden and ensure that there are ample resources for both your children and the charities you support.  This seminar is part of the Marietta Community Foundation?s continuing commitment to ensure that local estate planners have access to the best and most current information available.?

The seminar is at an intermediate level and will be most valuable to professional advisors with at least a fundamental understanding of estate planning issues.  However, there are no prerequisites for attendance and no advanced preparation is required.

Continuing education credits will be available for attorneys, accountants, insurance agents and financial planners from both Ohio and West Virginia.  The enrollment fee for the day is $175 and the registration deadline is May 12th.  For more information, please contact the Marietta Community Foundation at (740) 373-3286.
