Bret N. Bicoy, Senior Foundation Officer for programs and development of the Greater Green Bay Community Foundation, (assets $40.8 M) has been appointed Executive Director of the Marietta Community Foundation, it was announce by Teri Ann Zide, Chairman of the Board of Governors.

Bicoy replaces Carol Wharff, who has served as Executive Director since 1998 and is taking maternity leave the end of July.

"Because of his extensive fund raising and community foundation experience, Mr. Bicoy, from the beginning of our search efforts, ranked as the number one prospect among the nearly 100 applications we received," said Search Committee Chairman, William H. Thompson, former MCF Board Chair.

Search Committee members were Zide, Robert E. Kirkbride and Rob Bishop.

"Mr. Bicoy brings a record of success from Green Bay that includes helping raise $11 M last year alone for the foundation, and also assisting fund raising efforts of several other non-profits in the area," Thompson added.

Zide said the Foundation is counting on Wharff's returning part-time following her maternity leave.

"Carol has been an outstanding leader for MCF and her knowledge and understanding of the community will be of inestimable help to Mr. Bicoy as he settles into his new job," Zide said.

Bicoy has worked at Green Bay since 1999 directing that Foundation's granting operations as well as raising funds and providing fund raising consulting services to local non-profits. He received his BA in political science from Tufts University, a Certificate of Excellence in Non-Profit Leadership and Management from the School of Ecology at the University of Wisconsin, and completed continuing education course work in fund raising at St. Norbert College.

A native of Hawaii, Bicoy previously directed a $2.5 M granting program for the State of Hawaii Department of Labor and Industrial Relations. He currently serves as an elected member of the Green Bay City Council and is an active United Way Volunteer.
