MCF Announces Grant Awards

From unrestricted funds, the following awards:
Frontier Local School District for weight training and fitness equipment for athletic teams, $5,000
O'Neill Senior Center, $5,588 for refrigerator and freezer equipment in the kitchen of the facility
Barlow Volunteer Fire Department, $5,000 in matching funds to upgrade VHF pagers/radios to be compatible with new Washington County radio system
Washington County 4-H Advisory Committee, $1,785 to assist purchase of new display cages for rabbits at the Washington County Fair
Washington County Emergency Medical Services Association, $1,500 for Hepatitis B Vaccine
Marietta Family YMCA, $1,300 for tumbling mats and drum fans for cooling
Caring Connection, $7,500 to assist with emergency funds to prevent electrical shutoffs during high summer heat demand
From Flood Recovery Funds, $1,000 to Civitan Club of Marietta to replace wood fiber at the playground at Civitan Park.  Fiber was contaminated by flooding.
The deadline for accepting applications for grants from unrestricted funds for the next cycle is October 7, 2005.
During 2004, The Marietta Community Foundation provided over $682,000. to the local community in the form of grants, scholarships and other awards.
Thus far in 2005, over $48,000 in scholaships have been awarded to area students pursuing higher education.
