The Marietta Community Foundation announced earlier today the selection of Jack Moberg as the new President & CEO of the Marietta Community Foundation, Inc. Mr. Moberg replaces Bret Bicoy, who has accepted the position of President of the Nevada Community Foundation based in Las Vegas. ?We are lucky to have someone with such a demonstrated commitment to the Mid-Ohio Valley assume the leadership of the Marietta Community Foundation,? said Teri Ann Zide, Chair of the Foundation?s Board of Directors. Mr. Moberg helped lead the community for 14 years as President of the Marietta Area Chamber of Commerce. He also served as a volunteer on the Foundation?s Board of Directors for 12 years, most recently as its Vice-Chairman. ?I am honored to have this opportunity to serve our region through the Marietta Community Foundation,? said Mr. Moberg. ?The Foundation is a wonderful way for people to leave a true philanthropic legacy.? The Marietta Community Foundation is a collection of over 100 individual charitable funds, many established to honor a loved one. For instance, Joe and Luada Wesel created the Lisa Marie Wesel Scholarship Fund to provide education opportunities for low-income children. Many of the generous families of the Mid-Ohio Valley have created similar funds for a wide range of charitable purposes. The Foundation has total assets of approximately $7 million and distributes approximately $500,000 a year to local charities. Mr. Bicoy will remain at the Marietta Community Foundation for the next few weeks to ensure a smooth transition to Mr. Moberg?s leadership.
The Marietta Community Foundation will host a public reception to thank Mr. Bicoy for his service and welcome Mr. Moberg to the Foundation. The public is invited to a reception on Friday, September 10th, from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Foundation?s Offices at Putnam Street Commons at 121 Putnam Street in downtown Marietta.
