SOCIETY OF ST. VINCENT de PAUL: $5,000 was granted to assist in funding the "Under a Roof" program that provides rental assistance to the needy in our community.  There is an evergrowing need for additional assistance for housing costs and the Society works closely with families who are in need to provide such help.
WASHINGTON COUNTY HABITAT FOR HUMANITY: $5,000 match was granted to help fund road construction in the new housing development where nine new homes will be built providing low-income housing.  The completion of the road will guarantee that the County will provide road maintenance to the area.
WASHINGTON COUNTY FAIRBOARD-LIVESTOCK AND MULTI-PURPOSE BUILDING: MCF granted $3,000 to help assist in the expenses to the Fairboard for making the building handicapped accessible.  This building will be used by many community members and it is very important that it is well maintained and accessible.
O'NEILL SENIOR CENTER:  The Senior Center was awarded a grant of $7,163 to assist in the purchase of a new van.  The vans are used for transporting people over the age of 60 to important medical appointments, treatment centers, adult day care services and other community based services.  The Senior Center was awarded a grant from the Ohio Department of Transportation for the remaining portion of the cost of the van.
WASHINGTON COUNTY COMMUNITY ACTION SECRET SANTA:  $5,000 was awarded to the Secret Santa program at Community Action.  This program assists numerous children throughout our community with Christmas gifts and helps make a merrier Christmas for them and their families.
MARIETTA COLLEGE:  The Foundation granted $3,435 to help purchase an updated automated system for Marietta College's radio station, WMRT-FM.  This station offers hands-on education for students in the media field and the improvements will provide modern equipment that is of high quality and dependability.
WASHINGTON COUNTY PUBLIC LIBRARY:  A grant of $250 was given to the Public Library to help purchase an LCD projector that will be used for presentations, classes, and children's programming.  A donor advised fund has also awarded the library $250 to make a total grant of $500.
"We hope that others in the community follow the lead of the Marietta Community Foundation and make gifts of their own to these important charities," says Jack Moberg, President & CEO of the Marietta Community Foundation.  "Times are tough and your generosity might be the only thing that makes this a merrier Christmas for many families."
"The Marietta Community Foundation was able to distribute over $600,000 to local charities and families in need during this past year," says Moberg.
