  Marietta Community Foundation Announces Grant Awards

The Marietta Community Foundation ended calendar year 2005 with just over $9 million in assets thanks to the many generous gifts contributed over its 31 year history.  During that same 31 years, the Foundation granted over $8 million to area organizations and projects with gifts of over $850,000. in 2005.
In the most recent period of granting of funds from unrestricted assets, the Foundation announces a total of $37,020. in awards to the following projects:
The Economic Roundtable of the Ohio Valley, $1,000 for a student scholarship at Marietta College.
EVE, Inc., $5,000. for the Transitional Housing program.
Marietta Memorial Hospital, $2,500. for the linear accelerator project for cancer therapy.
Community Action Program, $3,670. to assist the Senior Nutrition Program.
Washington County Habitat for Humanity, $5,000. for Construction Materials, site preparation and land acquisition.
American Legion Auxiliary $1,500. for gifts and food for underprivileged families during the Christmas season.
Village of Beverly, $500. equipment for the newly renovated John Dodge Senior Citizens building.
Marietta Franciscan Community Meals $2,500. to help keep cost of meals down for senior citizens.
Oak Grove Volunteer Fire and Rescue, $2,500. to replace emergency alert pagers
Marietta Choir Boosters, Premiere group, $350. for general expenses of operation
Ely Chapman Education Foundation, $4,000. for van for transportation.
Marietta Family YMCA, $5,000. for van, with an additional $5,000. from a donor advised fund if the matching funds can be met and the goal achieved.
Ten local food pantries, $2,350. to assist with food purchases.  Pantries include:  Belpre, Beverly-Waterford, Lowell, Newport, Western Washington County, Williamstown, Belpre Church of Christ, Marietta Church of God, Lower Salem and New Matamoras.
Secret Santa Program of Washington County Community Action, $1,150. for Christmas gifts for children.
The deadline for accepting applications for grants from unrestricted funds for the next cycle is February 7, 2007.
