The Marietta Community Foundation ended calendar year 2006 with just over $10 million in assets thanks to the many generous gifts contributed over its 32 year history. During that same 32 years, the Foundation granted over $8 million to area organizations and projects with gifts of over $750,000. in 2006.
Annually, over $50,000 in student scholarships are granted through the Foundation and applications are currently available from area guidance counselors.
In the most recent period of granting of funds from unrestricted assets, the Foundation announces a total of $26,900. in awards to the following projects:
· The Washington County Association for Retarded Citizens for summer camp for students aged 3 through 21. $2,500.
· Salvation Army Boys and Girls Club, to assist funding with various programs including Power Hour, Triple Play, Club Parent Initiative and Special Classes, $5,000.
· Harmar PTO, to help with the playground project, $4,000.
· Village of Matamoras, $1,000 for the T-Ball field installation.
· Tri-County Food Pantry (Located in Lower Salem and serving residents of Monroe, Noble and Washington Counties, $900 for food storage shelving.
· The Right Path for Washington County, $5,000 for summer youth activities.
· City of Williamstown, $3,000 to assist with new pool construction.
· Village of Beverly, $3,000 to complete renovation of pool and bath house.
· The Muscular Dystrophy Association $2,500 for summer camp activities for 8 Washington County children.
The deadline for accepting applications for grants from unrestricted funds for the next cycle is June 7, 2007.
