1st Cycle 2010 Grant Awards announced!
Posted 2010-04-06 by MCF

Eleven grants totaling more than $38,000 to area organizations from The Marietta Community Foundation were announced today by Mark Schwendeman, foundation Board Chairman.

These awards were approved for the first of three grant cycles the Foundation holds each year. The deadline for second-cycle grant proposals is June 7, and grant request application forms are available from the Foundation offices located at 121 Putnam St.

“We always feel excited about the grants awarded, but this cycle the projects and programs that were awarded money seem to be so important in the current environment,” Carol Wharff, Marietta Community Foundation’s Grant Officer, said.

American Red Cross Washington County Chapter and Community Action-Washington/Morgan County both received funds to help purchase vehicles.  “I know that may not sound exciting but when you realize that a 4-wheel drive pick-up truck will help the Red Cross traverse across the remote areas of Washington County to assist in emergency situations and that a new meal delivery truck to ensure food safely transported to area seniors involved with the Senior Nutrition Program, it makes the grant much more exciting!”  Wharff explained.
